With reference to our conversation with
Mr.Gent over the telephone on the 10th March
re W.R.Sutton, late Sergeant, Hong Kong Police,
we considered this man in connection with a vacancy
for a Superintendent of Police, Nigeria, and as
he was found qualified for the post we sent him for
medical examination. Copy of the Medical Adviser's
report is attached. On being told that he had
failed to pass the doctor he wanted to know the
reason and in accordance with our usual practice
was informed that we were not at liberty to tell him.
Two letters (in original for return) from
a Mr.Montague asking for the same information, are
attached, and we shall be glad to know what reply
we should make to them.
